Basis is an AI-powered expense tracking platform designed for rental property investors. The Service allows you to upload financial documents, categorize transactions, and generate reports for tax and accounting purposes.

3. Account Registration

To use the Service, you must create an account with accurate and complete information. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You may not:

  • Use the Service to process fraudulent financial data
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems

5. Your Data

You retain ownership of all data you upload to the Service, including financial documents, transaction data, and property information. We claim no ownership over your data. See our Privacy Policy for details on how we handle your data.

6. AI-Generated Categorization

Basis uses artificial intelligence to categorize transactions and generate suggestions. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated categorizations are suggestions and may contain errors. You are responsible for reviewing and confirming all categorizations before using them for tax filing or other official purposes. Basis is not a substitute for professional accounting or tax advice.

7. Subscription and Billing

Basis offers subscription plans billed annually. Pricing is displayed on our website and may change with notice. All plans include a 14-day free trial. You may cancel your subscription at any time, and your access will continue until the end of your current billing period.

8. Refunds

If you are not satisfied with the Service, you may request a refund within 30 days of your initial purchase. Refund requests after 30 days will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

9. Service Availability

We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the Service. We may perform maintenance or updates that temporarily affect availability. We will provide reasonable notice of planned downtime.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Basis shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to errors in AI-generated categorizations, data loss, or tax filing inaccuracies.

Our total liability for any claims arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. Basis is not a tax preparation service, accounting firm, or financial advisor. Reports generated by the Service are tools to assist your record-keeping and should be reviewed by a qualified professional before use in tax filings.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time. Upon termination, we will make your data available for export for a reasonable period before permanent deletion.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
